Saturday
1st, May saw 43 teams take part in the
Machrihanish Am Am competition including 2 teams from the
main sponsor, Argyll Buildbase. The event was very well
organised with a selection of prizes to play for at all 18
holes in addition to the main competition honours.
The bar
was set high early in the day by the Insubiz team headed up
by Soren Hundeball, who collectively racked up several net
eagles that ultimately contributed to a great score of 53
which was always going to be the score to beat, and must
have put many of the later teams at a psychological
disadvantage even before they had stepped up to the first
tee.
Iain
Reid’s, Argyll and Bute Consultants team were hopeful of
finishing in the prizes with a 57 despite an average inward
half which could have been worse if it were not for Terry
Mundie finding his clinical putting form that we have been
so used to seeing in the Winter League!
However,
it was David Rankin’s, Papa and the 3 Bears who mounted the
best challenge to the leaders who were next in with a 56 to
take second place followed by the Largieside team in 3rd
place by virtue of a better inward half.
The
evenings prize giving took place in a packed clubhouse
hosted by Club Captain, Bob Tait and prizes kindly presented
to the winners by Dorothy Tait.
Results:
1. Insubiz 53 (S Hundeball, B

with Machrihanish Golf Club and the Am Am event.
