South
Kintyre Sports Council Update Share
Member Clubs are reminded that their 2010/11 membership of
South Kintyre Sports Council is now due and affiliation
forms can be downloaded at the newly launched Sports Council
website
www.southkintyresportscouncil.com (click
here to download 2010/11 affiliation form)
Membership entitles clubs to help and support of their club,
a webpage listing on the above website, funding
opportunities as well as access to the Sports Council mini
bus at subsidised cost.
The
mini bus is now entering it’s third year since the
Sports Council took delivery of the mini bus in March 2008.
Since then the bus has transported local sports teams all
over Scotland on a weekly basis. Continued support from the
mini bus sponsors; Argyll Buildbase, McKinven & Colville,
The Tasting Room (Springbank), Livingstone & McEachran and
McFadyens Contractors is ensuring the business model, which
allows subsidised travel and the ability to replace the mini
bus after 5 years, is working well. The Sports Council wish
to thank these local businesses for their continued support.
As well as giving financial support to both the MOKRUN Kids
Run and Kintyre Canoe Club recently (£300 each club) the
committee are organising the MOKRUN Ceilidh in conjucntion
with the MOKRUN Committee which offers vital support to the
local race while adding valuable funds to the Sports
Council’s own accounts
Later in the year on October 2nd the Sports Council will be
hosting their first ever awards ceremony and details of this
event will appear here and in the local press soon.
In the meantime the campaign for an
All Weather Pitch in Campbeltown continues with Argyll &
Bute Council confirming early this month that a Stage 1
Application for funding has been made to Sportscotland
for the provision of the pitch on Kinloch Green following
the Council’s options appraisal in late March. This
comprehensive application was completed in conjunction with
consultants PMR Leisure who are undertaking the Council’s
Pitch and Facilities review and news back from the
application is expected at the start of May.
The Sports Council are also delighted with the directive
that has been issued by Argyll & Bute Council on pitch hire
prices following the 90% increases with effect from 1st
April 2010. Click
here to read more.
The next meeting of the Sports Council is this Monday (26th
April) at 7pm in the Conference Room at the Aqualibrium.
Member clubs are welcome to come along as are members of the
public. |
