More
than 100 entrants have now signed up
for the fourth annual Kintyre Way
Relay which takes place on May 1,
starting from Tarbert at 6am.
Entries in all categories
are more than double last year’s
numbers, with 24 walkers doing 31
miles along the path from Tarbert to
Skipness, Clachan and Tayinloan, 28
walkers along the 18 miles from
Torrisdale via Carradale to
Tayinloan, 44 runners in relay teams
sharing out the 66 mile race rout
from Tarbert to Campbeltown ; and
five ultra-distance runners who will
each run the entire
66 miles in one day.
This
year’s walkers include a large group
from the Royal Bank of Scotland head
office in Glasgow, who are raising
funds for cancer research at the
Beatson Oncology Centre.
The
Kintyre Way Relay is becoming well
known for its hospitality element,
with refreshments provided by the
locals at five different community
halls along the way, and the
“Runners Revels” feast and
Ceilidh in
the evening.
Entries can be submitted online.

Now this is where
you can help out! Organisers
are looking for support and marshals for
the Campbeltown end of the Kintyre Way
Replay. Is anyone able to help out
on Saturday 1st May 2010 between 3pm and
8pm for one or two hours? After
leaving Tarbert at 6am in the morning
the first runners are expected to arrive
in Campbeltown at around 3.30pm onwards
and we are looking for marshals at
Gobagrennan turn off, Millknowe Stores
and at Lochend turn off to ensure
runners are ushered in the right
direction and look after the road
crossing. A few people are also
needed at the Aqualibrium to check off
and look after the finishers.
Help is
also needed with one or two volunteer
drivers to take runners back to
Tayinloan in the Sports Council mini
bus.
If you
help in anyway please contact Sid
Gallagher on 01586 552294 or by e-mail

This is a
really unique event that is growing each
year and is building on Kintyre
reputation as one of the most friendly
event organisers in the country!
Not to forget the running too!
